Not only do you get the opportunity to help the\u00a0Haourani\u00a0tribe, you also get to live in one of the most biodiverse places on earth.\u00a0<span data-ccp-props=\"{&quot;201341983&quot;:0,&quot;335559739&quot;:160,&quot;335559740&quot;:259}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p>The trip to\u00a0Yasun\u00ed\u00a0is long but absolutely worth it. We thought it was pretty cool to travel by boat to your destination!\u00a0As a volunteer you\u00a0will\u00a0stay in the\u00a0Yasun\u00ed\u00a0research station,\u00a0where you have your own\u00a0(dorm)room and bathroom. There is a nice\u00a0area\u00a0with a lot of hammocks where you can relax in your free time and enjoy the nature around you.\u00a0<span data-ccp-props=\"{&quot;201341983&quot;:0,&quot;335559739&quot;:160,&quot;335559740&quot;:259}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<h4><b>A\u00a0<\/b><b>work<\/b><b>week in Yasun\u00ed<\/b><span data-ccp-props=\"{&quot;201341983&quot;:0,&quot;335559739&quot;:160,&quot;335559740&quot;:259}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/h4>\n<p>During the\u00a0day you\u00a0work\u00a0with the\u00a0Huaorani\u00a0tribe and teach them English. In the mornings you get breakfast at 07:00 and you leave by car to the place where\u00a0you\u00a0teach\u00a0English\u00a0to the children. They\u00a0are enthusiastic and very eager to learn. It is fun,\u00a0but honestly sometimes also a challenge if you\u00a0have\u00a0never taught little children. Here you will learn how to make sure they\u00a0don\u2019t get distracted\u00a0and\u00a0teach\u00a0them English in a fun way.\u00a0<span data-ccp-props=\"{&quot;201341983&quot;:0,&quot;335559739&quot;:160,&quot;335559740&quot;:259}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p>At\u00a0mid-day\u00a0you will leave to have lunch at the station. After a short afternoon break,\u00a0you will\u00a0return\u00a0to\u00a0teach\u00a0the adults of the tribe.\u00a0Just like the children, they\u00a0are very eager to learn. When you finish class,\u00a0you have\u00a0the\u00a0opportunity to get to know them better and practice your Spanish!\u00a0<span data-ccp-props=\"{&quot;201341983&quot;:0,&quot;335559739&quot;:160,&quot;335559740&quot;:259}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p>If you get to know the\u00a0Huaorani better, you will learn about their culture. It will amaze you how much knowledge they have\u00a0about\u00a0things we don\u2019t know\u00a0anything about.\u00a0They know a lot about\u00a0medical\u00a0issues and symptoms and how to treat these\u00a0for\u00a0example. In addition they make bowls, bracelets, and stuff they use to hunt in the jungle. You can learn about all the things you\u00a0can eat and make from the nature around you from them. Like how the Huaorani\u00a0make\u00a0a juice from a type of banana that grows here, which turns into alcohol after a while!\u00a0<span data-ccp-props=\"{&quot;201341983&quot;:0,&quot;335559739&quot;:160,&quot;335559740&quot;:259}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<h4><b>Spare<\/b><b>\u00a0<\/b><b>time<\/b><b>\u00a0activities<\/b><span data-ccp-props=\"{&quot;201341983&quot;:0,&quot;335559739&quot;:160,&quot;335559740&quot;:259}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/h4>\n<p>In the evenings after dinner\u00a0you are free to do whatever you like. Sometimes it is possible to do a\u00a0night tour\u00a0through the jungle. This is very cool! Another thing you can do around here is watch the stars. When it is not cloudy you can see the\u00a0milky way\u00a0and\u00a0the stars brighter than ever!\u00a0<span data-ccp-props=\"{&quot;201341983&quot;:0,&quot;335559739&quot;:160,&quot;335559740&quot;:259}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p>In the weekends\u00a0you\u00a0can go on a\u00a0boat tour\u00a0or go for a walk to explore the jungle and (if you\u2019re lucky) see some <a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/localdreamers\/photos\/pcb.1743487835694710\/1744304525613041\/?type=3&amp;theater\">animals<\/a>, like monkeys. We recommend the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/localdreamers\/photos\/pcb.1743487835694710\/1744305055612988\/?type=3&amp;theater\">boat tour<\/a>,\u00a0because you see parts\u00a0of the jungle that you otherwise would never see. If you are\u00a0really lucky you can\u00a0even\u00a0spot pink\u00a0dolphins!\u00a0A walk through the jungle is included in the boat tour. We got to see\u00a0a monkey,\u00a0a turtle and tropical birds\u00a0during\u00a0our\u00a0walk.\u00a0<span data-ccp-props=\"{&quot;201341983&quot;:0,&quot;335559739&quot;:160,&quot;335559740&quot;:259}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p>We can definitely say that\u00a0Yasun\u00ed\u00a0is the highlight of our trip\u00a0in Ecuador\u00a0thus far.\u00a0The nature, the people and the ambiance are fantastic\u00a0here!\u00a0You will see and hear animals that you\u2019ve never seen or heard\u00a0before,\u00a0and\u00a0try food that you\u2019ve\u00a0never tasted before!
